Helen Loughrey Counseling Services
Supportive Individual and Group Counseling
For Adults and Teens in Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New York
Why Psychotherapy
"May all sentient beings be free from suffering and the causes of suffering." - Buddhist prayer
Life is difficult, so people learn to protect themselves against emotional injuries. Sometimes these tools stop working for us and then we may feel stuck.
Often a professionally trained counselor can provide the support and guidance we need to get back on track to overcome difficult life experiences such as:
narcissistic abuse
personal or family member struggles with addictions
anxiety or phobias
post trauma distress
depression
grief and loss

Services I Offer
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is a mutual commitment that can vary from three months up to two years, depending on the issues involved. Sessions are usually conducted weekly by video teleconference for one hour. You may schedule sessions for day or evening appointments and even on weekends. The first 30 minute intake is free of charge. Unless otherwise arranged, individual standard appointment fees are $175 per 1 hour session. To protect your privacy, I do not work with any insurance company. Payment is required 48 hours before the scheduled appointment via Venmo. If payment is not recorded, the session will need to be rescheduled.
Group Therapy
Small group therapy can be a cost-effective alternative and extremely successful addition to individual therapy. Fees are as low as $55 per individual in weekly 90 minute session with a minimum group of five. Admission is contingent upon an initial one hour individual session. Groups are topic-focused so that you benefit from witnessing others going through your same issues. Sharing a similar therapeutic journey can be validating, strengthening, and inspiring. You are no longer alone.
I facilitate group therapy for issues of codependency; support for survivors of toxic parents or narcissistic abuse; group support for managing pregnancy and other diagnoses in the context of social quarantines; and for situations of
grief and loss including bereavement, divorce, and social estrangement.
I also facilitate respectful group structures to support secular recovery from addictions and codependency. And I facilitate therapeutic group work to help members of 12 step recovery fellowships to fast-track or intensify their personal recovery work.
